The system is dual-laser LiDAR which is similar to what you'd find in self-driving cars -- and can scan an area of up to 32 feet by 270 degrees. This translates to more precise mapping, faster response times, and better cleaning accuracy.

It also has a rotating mopping mat constructed of chenille, making it easier to scrub hard-to-clean areas than traditional mops. In my tests, the X2 Omni washed its pad in just a few seconds and then got to work. I noticed that it was more accurate than other models, which seemed to follow a grid around rooms. It was able to navigate the corners and edges of my rooms as well as make "Zambani patterns" up and down the middle of the room. It also returned to its OMNI station regularly to empty the dust bin and clean the mop using hot water prior to beginning another task of cleaning.

It's a tempting mid-range vacuum cleaner, even if it doesn't quite deliver on its promise to be an all-in-one solution for floor cleaning.

The X8 Hybrid looks like a regular robotic vacuum cleaner from the top with its circular shape with sweeping wheels and a raised area for sensors. However, flip it over you'll see a motorised floor brush plus a single side sweeper brush which pushes dirt from the edges of the machine into the main path of the robot's 'mouth'. It's a bit smaller than the main brushes on the rival iRobot Roomba S9, which I discovered makes it easier to get under chairs and sofas.

Its mapping system lets you define no-mop areas as well as specific cleaning zones. It has a habit of hitting things such as its charging station, and isn't the best at navigating over carpets. It was capable of picking up pet hair on floors that were not paved however, and during our tests, it picked up 89.5 percent of cat litter, which puts it ahead of any of the most powerful robots we've tested.

The A4s Pro has a convenient auto-cleaning feature that increases suction to tackle tough dirt or spills. It also comes with a battery powered ElectroWall to define the boundaries of the robot.

This budget-friendly robot from a popular new brand is the most affordable we've ever tested and offers exceptional value for the money. The basic navigation system employs a super-basic random pathing algorithm, but it doesn't have room mapping capabilities, making it less time efficient than other models on this list. It's still able to get under furniture and into the corners. And its mopping mode was very effective in our tests and picked up hairs that were straying and other debris.

Shark's iQ isn't quite as well-built as the Roomba S9, but it does a better job overall in cleaning up pet hair on all surfaces. It clears bare floors more thoroughly and does a good job on low-pile carpet and utilizes smart-pathing navigational technology to provide greater maneuverability. It can be positioned to a specific location, and includes a variety of advanced automation features including no-go zones and schedules. It even lets you to pause and resume a cleaning session and is perfect for households with pets.

Its self-cleaning brushroll helps prevent the tangles caused by pet hair and other debris and its self-emptying dock station can store up to 30 days worth of dirt before it needs to be empty. It also has an assortment of side brushes that are angled to penetrate into corners and its multi-stage filter system is able to capture dust, dander and allergens to ensure a healthier air.

This robot vacuum feels solid and well-constructed, and it has a smartphone app that enables you to change its vacuum settings and schedule cleaning sessions in advance.
