iRobot Series Robot Vacuum Cleaners

iRobot is a robotics company that has been a pioneer for years in the field and is now focusing on smart home automation. Their robot vacuum cleaners boast precise navigation and dirt detection.

The story in the frame story concerns the character Gloria and her nursemaid robot, Robbie. Gloria is devastated when her parents decide to send Robbie back to the factory.

Roomba

Roomba is an autonomous robotic vacuum cleaner. It is designed to clean floors and carpets It maneuvers around furniture and other obstacles to clean the floor thoroughly. It automatically returns to the dock and recharges and can be controlled by an app for smartphones or a remote control.

The majority of Roomba models are able to detect obstacles using infrared sensors, and are able to change direction when they encounter obstacles. Advanced models can create an outline of the floor and decide the best path to take. They can clean a larger area in less time and are more efficient. Some Roombas come with the squeegee which can be used to pick up large pieces of debris like pebbles and crumbs. Others have a high-capacity bin that can hold more dirt before needing to be empty.

The iRobot Roomba i4+ EVO: Ultimate Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum Home App allows you to set cleaning times, select when the robot should return, and control other features, such as adjusting the number of times it passes. The app also provides the full history of each cleaning task, including how long it took to finish the task and whether the robot encountered obstacles or was unable to complete its task. The iRobot Home app can be linked to other iRobot devices, like the Braava M6, so it will automatically begin mopping after the Roomba is done vacuuming.

iRobot launched the S series Roombas in late May 2019. They feature intelligent mapping and advanced technology for detecting obstacles to help them navigate through a home. The S9 and S9+ Roombas are the smartest Roombas iRobot have ever made. They offer 40 times more suction as compared to the 600 series, and a 30% bigger rubber brush to ensure better edge cleaning. They also can create "Keep out zones" which block the robot from entering certain areas, for example the thicket cords.

The j9+ is the most premium model, and it has everything that the brand can offer. This includes a self-emptying Cleaning Base advanced obstacle detection system, and automatic updates of iRobot OS. It can also learn from your habits of cleaning to prioritize rooms and control the power of its brush motors. It can even pick up deep-seated dirt hairs, pet hairs and allergens.

Scooba

The irobot Scooba is designed to clean your floors and eliminate the mess. It makes use of an active reservoir design that separates the cleaning solution from the sand that is dirty. We also observed that we could easily get the round Scooba stuck under furniture. This was not convenient for us.

It did an excellent job of cleaning the rest of our house however, and it was extremely quick in doing it. It also did a great job cleaning the bathroom and we didn't have to be concerned about persistent odors. The Scooba is also very loud, which makes it be difficult to operate in a living room or bedroom room.

I did notice some gunk stuck in the vacuum holes at the bottom of the Scooba. This can be partially removed by rinsing off. This is important as the vacuum holes that are blocked could cause the bot to stop working.

Braava

The iRobot Braava Jet m6 might look simple, but the company has packed a lot of smart engineering into it to make mopping and navigation work efficiently. Its small body that measures 10x10x 3,5 inches and weighs only 4.4 pounds allows it to navigate through small spaces without causing damage to furniture. The robot's cleaning head is designed to scrub hard floors, and its nozzle sprays water for mopping with water. It vibrates to break up dirt staining and other contaminates.

The robot utilizes modern vSLAM navigation to locate your home, avoiding carpet and other obstructions. Its driving wheels allow it to reach tight corners, while cliff sensors prevent it from falling down steep drops or stairs. It can also help you learn your cleaning habits and suggests more frequent mopping during allergy or pollen season.
