Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE damage.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra effect when they're used. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Every upgradeable item has a level that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each level of an item requires a different amount of components to reach, and the upgrade costs increase as the item gets upgraded.

Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of crafting tables. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns a number of Technology Points. These points can be used for the upgrading of an item. When enough points have been earned you will be eligible to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When a player upgrade the equipment they have it is replaced by an item that is new. The same armor will be upgraded to an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This could be a drawback since the item may become more expensive even if you do not require it.

If the player has enough tokens they can reroll item upgrades. This will cause the item to be traded for a new one, with an initial level and a completely different set of bonuses. This can be useful for some items, but it's not something that should be repeated often, as it can use up many resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled many times to increase their value, allows the player to modify their gear.
